General Health

We specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic health issues.

Our goal is to diagnose, educate and treat our patients so they feel better. Many of our patients are people who had been sick for years with acute or chronic health issues. They have been to other doctors and health professionals and were told nothing was wrong, or that their test results came back within “normal range.” Without a diagnosis, they were not treated. Without treatment, their condition continued…

Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a different approach

Unlike conventional care, which is based on diagnosing disease, Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a different approach. This approach is known as functional medicine, an evidence-based approach that treats the body as an interconnected whole. IT IDENTIFIES WHERE THE SYSTEM HAS BROKEN DOWN AND HOW THIS BREAKDOWN IS AFFECTING FUNCTION.

Where conventional medicine tends to isolate problems to certain organs or body parts, functional medicine evaluates the underlying imbalances in the body that cause certain patterns of symptoms. Both approaches are valid. Both have been proven to treat and manage health issues. The main difference is in the strengths and weaknesses of each approach.

One of the strengths of Traditional Chinese Medicine is that it treats the root causes of imbalances in the body, instead of just treating the symptoms. FIX THE SYSTEM AND NORMAL FUNCTION IS RESTORED.

We use acupuncture, nutritional and lifestyle counseling, bodywork, and herbal remedies to quickly and effectively treat chronic health issues, but that is only part of any treatment plan. We educate our patients about their condition and how simple changes can make a big difference in feeling stronger, happier and healthier over time. We believe that factors such as getting enough sleep, successfully managing stress, eating certain foods (and avoiding others) and self-care all contribute to the healing process. As a result, we empower and encourage our patients to take a more active role in their healing and health.

We believe that when you know how to take care of what you can control in your health, you are better able to handle whatever is outside your control. This philosophy gives you a sense of peace and empowerment, because you know you are doing everything you can to feel healthy, happy and whole.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a personalized approach to healthcare that relies on diagnostic tools such as blood work, physical evaluation, lifestyle and nutrition assessment, as well as other medical tests, to successfully diagnose, treat and manage chronic health issues that have not been successfully treated by conventional care, such as:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Insomnia
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Chronic skin problems
  • Aging gracefully
  • Pain
  • Diabetes
  • Digestive issues
  • Chronic infections
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Allergies and asthma
  • Respiratory and neurological conditions

The Secret to Bodily Health and True “Anti-Aging” Medicine.

As the first article for my newly founded blog, I want to start at the top with the most important organ in the body… the brain.

You, in some ways, literally are your brain. Your experience of the world, as well as your ability to communicate back to the world, is dependent upon a healthy brain. Your moods, your ability to express and even formulate your thoughts, are dependent upon a smoothly functioning brain. The brain is the command and control center for every action and reaction in your entire body. Nothing happens without first going through the brain.

Ironically, it is the least recognized and most under-treated part of the human anatomy. Whether we’re talking about a conventional or a holistic clinic, the brain’s function and health is largely ignored as a component to other health problems. Unless someone is showing signs of a stroke, epilepsy, concussion or other obvious brain disorders, the brain is simply not addressed. This is a travesty.

The brain and it’s ability to function optimally can effect a wide range of conditions such as insomnia, mood disorders, PMS, fertility, diabetes, fatigue, autoimmune disorders, even joint or muscle pain. How many of you have noticed you’re more achey when you’re tired? This is because of a fatigued brain is not able to properly control inflammation. When we age the symptoms that we often ascribe to “shelf-life” are really signs of brain degeneration.

There is A LOT That Can be Done to Slow or Stop This Degeneration.

How many of you have met someone in their 90′s, like the Salsa dancing grandmother who seems so young? – That’s because their brain is still vital.

At Wellpath Center, we have everyone fill out Metabolic and Neurotransmitter assessment forms to gauge the amount of stress on and degeneration of the brain. Using these assessments we are able to accurately correct lifestyle imbalances and give specific nutritional support to improve brain function and longevity. Having a healthy brain is a prerequisite for bodily health and is the true “anti-aging” medicine.

I first met Chris 8 years ago when all any Doctor wanted to prescribe for my neck pain was a horse tranquilizer. From the first meeting, he took the time that no doctor had taken to ask questions and prescribe an appropriate treatment. After a half dozen sessions he had fixed what Doctors couldn’t seem to fix- I was converted. Chris brings a practical application to his vast knowledge of the function of the body that I have not encountered with any other Doctor. He is a person I trust and the first person I go to with my health questions.

I have known chris butler for many years. not only is his integrity and dedication to his work impeccable, but he is constantly increasing his knowledge in all aspects of not only the eastern philosophy of traditional chinese medicine but also the western view of functional medicine.

Chris has always had a love for his work which allows him to put his patients care first. i have no hesitation referring patients to chris knowing they will get the best care possible.
